Hanging out with the girls
It is always fun to spend the afternoon with the friends from high school. Linda, Laurel and the 2 Barbaras are fun to be around. We had anice lunch at the Zinfandell Grill in Folsom and then spent the better part of the afternoon poking around in the little shops in Folsom. While I "hate" to shop I felt like it was a good way to spend the afternoon since I did get a Christmas present that I think Freida will like.

Making quilts
I've come a long way in my quilt making when I can cut out a bunch of strips, sew them together and have a finished quilt top in 3 hours. I made this one for community service at Foothill Quilters Guild. It was a challenge put forth by the President for the December meeting. It will be interesting to see who followed through and what kind of quilts they made. I wanted to do something a little fancier but I'm happy with the "kitty quilt". Cute fabric and just the right size. I also need to do one for the Loomis guild but it will have to wait for a few days. Erin and Jessica are coming so I need to put the boxes from Christmas decorating away and clean up the sewing area again. Friday will be here before we know it!
The old quilt blocks

At the Foothill Quilters Guild Annual Quilt Show 3-4 years ago I found something special at the Country Store: a bag of blocks and enough fabric to set them and maybe even back the quilt. It was a deal for $7. For all these months it has been buried in the bottom of the tub filled with UFOs that don't have much of a change of being finished. I've never made a real quilt for Chris and this one has a masculine look to it. If I back it with something cozy I think he will really like it. Maybe I can even get it done for Christmas!!

Thanksgiving Sunday

It has been a long weekend with the Thanksgiving holiday. I've been busy with quilting and stuff. I cleaned up the sewing room to make it presentable for Erin and Jessica. I worked on the swoosh quilt and did about half of the quilting. For some reason there is a drag when machine quilting. Don't know why.
Amazing as it may seem, we are almost finished with decorating for Christmas!! Jim got the outside lights up and I did the tree. We have a lot of arnaments for such a small tree. Big collection over the last 40 years. Lots of fun memories while I hung them. Didn't play Christmas music but I did listen to a book on tape, The Confederacy of Dunces.
Tomorrow we give blood in the morning and take Chris to the doctor in the afternoon. I don't know which will be more fun!!
